Hunt Military Communities Support Wreaths Across America
December 3, 2020 - As part of its ongoing recognition and support of the military community, Hunt Military Communities (HMC) encourages its employees and residents to honor our fallen soldiers in recognition of Wreaths Across America's annual wreath-laying tradition on December 19. While many may not be able to participate in Wreaths Across America Day this year at their local participating cemetery, HMC supports Wreaths Across America's primary mission to bring awareness to the sacrifices our country's heroes have made.
Residents and employees from HMC communities in eligible locations nationwide will participate in the annual program which is responsible for placing more than 100,000 wreaths on the headstones of our nation's heroes. HMC has a committed and long-standing relationship with the military community and understands the challenges that affect military families. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Wreaths Across America program will adhere to federal, state, and local guidelines. All participants will be encouraged to wear a mask and follow social distancing rules. For those who cannot participate in Wreaths Across America Day, HMC encourages everyone to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers in their unique way, whether it be by hanging a wreath on your front door or passing down the stories of their legacy with friends and family. With deep ties to the military community, HMC understands the challenges that military families experience, especially during the holidays, and is grateful to provide added support during this time.
"Now more than ever, it's important to remember, honor and educate ourselves and others on the sacrifices of our fallen heroes," said John Ehle, President of Hunt Military Communities. "We are proud to participate in this annual tradition and look forward to maintaining the legacy of our service members past and present this holiday season in whatever way possible."
A wreath is a symbol of respect and appreciation, placed on veterans' graves by volunteers as a gesture of gratitude for the freedoms of Americans. For many centuries, a red bow has symbolized honor for all those who have sacrificed their lives. Each wreath represents a living memorial that honors veterans, active-duty military members, and their families. Volunteers are asked to say the veteran's name out loud when placing a wreath to ensure each veteran's legacy is always remembered.
